ULTIMATE TRAVEL GUIDE: How to Spend 72 HOURS IN PARIS, FRANCE

WARNING: RECREATION OF THIS BLOG POST WILL INVOLVE OVER 27,000 STEPS PER DAY.

A couple of weeks ago, I returned from my 4 days, 3 nights trip to Paris (it totals to about 72 hours). It was a city break with my Mum after finishing my A Levels this summer. Not to mention, Paris in the summer is spectacular.

First off, I want to say that you are having doubts about visiting Paris, clear them off now! My whole trip was an experience I will never forget. The city is full of culture, music and – of course – food!  I am already planning my next trip back, maybe in December, to see Paris in Winter.

Second, 72 hours in Paris is enough! From reading this title, you may have thought, 72 hours… is that it? But I can assure you, I managed to see everything on my list and more…

So, How do you spend 72 hours in Paris? Just keep reading…

Tuesday Early Afternoon

Aim to arrive in the afternoon. We travelled from London to Paris on the Eurostar (which I highly recommend) and arrived at around 13:45. Buy a block of 10 metro tickets from the metro station and take the metro to your hotel. Our hotel check-in time was 14:00; so we were able to check in straight away. I recommend booking a hotel or Airbnb in the Latin Quarter because not only is this one of the nicer areas of Paris, it is close to the centre and has some of the cheapest food! Freshen up and head out to enjoy the rest of the day! First, head towards the Notre Dame. This is in the 4th Arrondissement – known as Le Marais. Grab a snack from a boulangerie along the way, by snack I mean a croissant, of course, the national food of France. Make sure you walk to the Notre Dame (it’s not that far!) as you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Paris whilst walking along the Seine. Once you’ve arrived at the Notre Dame, take a quick pic stop (see what I did there)OPTIONAL: You can head into the Notre Dame and see the amazing cathedral from the inside, but I recommend saving your money.

Tuesday Mid Afternoon

The perks of visiting Paris in the summer is that it is light in the city until about 10 pm. After leaving the Notre Dame, follow the Seine into the 1st Arrondissement to see the Lourve and the Tuileries Gardens. Whilst strolling along the Seine, you might catch a glimpse of our good ol’ friend, the Eiffel Tower. Once again, if you want to spend 100 euros to go and see an over-rated painting of the Mona Lisa, feel free, if not… let’s move on! One thing I do recommend is visiting the Tuileries Gardens, these are within the Palais Royal and they are absolutely stunning. Moving on from the Lourve, walk along the Seine and take your time to absorb the life and movement in Paris. Cross the Seine on the famous Love-Lock Bridge (please note: I think the original bridge, all the locks have been removed, but another one is forming…). Head in the direction of the Eiffel Tower in the 7th Arrondissement. Make a food stop in a Franprix, which is a supermarket chain in Paris. The one we stopped in on the way to the Eiffel Tower had a Salad Bar. It only cost 6 euros per person for a large bowl of salad, and then about 60 cents for a baguette. Also, paper bags are not free as they are in the UK. Once arriving at the Eiffel Tower, take a seat in the Park and enjoy your lunch. (please note: be aware that there are many sellers offering different souvenirs, try not to reply because they will eventually walk away.)

Tuesday Evening

After taking in the view of the magnificent Eiffel Tower, cross the street and head towards the Trocadero Square. This has the best views of the Eiffel Tower and surprisingly wasn’t that busy in the Evening. Take a pic stop. There is always lots of musicians and dancers on the square, enjoy a moment watching. Stay here to watch the sunset over Paris.

WARNING: At this point, your feet may be tired and your shoulders may ache. But, the evening has just begun…

Leave Trocadero on the roundabout side and take a stroll down the avenue towards the Champs Elysees. From Trocadero, you will arrive near the Arc de Triomphe. Brave the horrendous roundabout and take a pic stop. The best photos are from the middle of the roundabout rather than directly under the Arc. I would recommend going up the Arc de Triomphe rather than the Eiffel Tower because the view of Paris is definitely better and you have the Eiffel Tower in your photos.

If you aren’t feeling too tired, walk along the Avenue des Champs-Elysees and look at all the luxurious shops. (keyword here: look – very expensive shops). Head towards the nearest metro station and back to your hotel.

Wednesday Morning

Welcome to the first full day in Paris. Take a moment to watch the city wake from the balcony view of your hotel. Then get ready to travel out to Versailles – home to the Palace of Versailles. If you want to save money, don’t spend it on the buffet breakfast provided at the Hotel, instead of this, step out and head to a street because I assure you, you will find a cute boulangerie.  They are literally everywhere you turn. Grab some pastries and head towards your nearest metro station. Take the metro to the stop – Javel. Another photo opportunity of the Eiffel Tower from a distance. Buy a train ticket, and take the RER C line to the stop Gare de Versailles Chateau Rive Gauche.

Spend the morning at the palace, make sure you head out early to avoid the cues, aim to arrive between 9 – 10 am as this is when the palace opens. To skip the cues, buy your tickets in advance. I made the mistake of waiting in the ticket queue even though under 26-year-olds are able to get in free with a valid passport from the EU (please check this as I am not 100% sure). Take in the grandeur of the palace and make sure to get the free audio guide. Walk around the magnificent gardens and see the mini chateaus. My experience at the Palace taught me a lot about the history of the Royals in France and also, the magnitude and money they had made me understand why the French had a revolution.

Wednesday Afternoon

Spend the afternoon exploring the town of Versailles. There are some cute shops and market stalls in Versailles. (I visited the LDS temple, as I am a Mormon and it is so beautiful and peaceful there, I would definitely recommend even if you’re not Mormon lol.) Grab lunch from a stand or a fast food shop; then head back to Paris for an evening of shopping and exploring more of the city.

Wednesday Evening

Arrive back in Paris and take the Metro to Galleries Layfette Montparnasse. Embrace the Parisian style and culture with a spot of shopping in the 15th arrondissement. Then, walk back through the beautiful streets and buy a crepe at a sweet stand. The only type of crepes I bought was Nutella. My weak spot… As well as this, the shops will be starting to close and the pubs will be opening. If you are lucky, you may be the last customer at a pastry shop and they will gift you with free pastries to take home and enjoy. Take a stroll back to your hotel and digest the sweet sounds of a Paris summer evening.

Thursday Morning

Once again, an early start. It’s a museum day. Start the morning on the streets of Paris and grab some pastries (don’t worry all this walking is burning the calories off…), take a stop at the Fontaine Saint Michel. Thursday’s are market days in Paris, there is an opportunity to buy some Parisian scarves and bags from the stands. Head along the Seine to the Musee d’Orsay. The Musee d’Orsay features some of the most famous pieces of artwork by Van Gogh, Manet, Monet, Renoir, and Rodin.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Thursday Afternoon

From the Musee d’Orsay take the metro to the 18th Arrondissement. We are now entering the more residential areas of Paris. The 18th is home to the infamous Sacre Coeur and the Moulin Rouge. But first stop, Sacre Coeur. Feel free to climb the 300 or so stairs to the top, others there is a little lift which takes you to the top level which only costs 1.90 euros (a metro ticket). From the Sacre Coeur take a pic stop and admire the skyline views of Paris. You never realise how big Paris is until you have seen this view. I would recommend heading to the back of the Sacre Coeur as it is significantly less busy and just as picturesque to get those Insta Pics. Also, there is a garden area which is like a sacred sanctuary from the business of Paris, behind the Sacre Coeur. After spending an hour or so admiring the beautiful church, the inside and the out (p.s. there is an opportunity to take time to reflect within the church), head back down the slope to the main streets and stop at a cute cafe for a quick drink. This is another cheap food area for all my foodies reading; so embrace it! Then head uptown towards the Moulin Rouge.

photo.jpg

Thursday Late Afternoon

Now, I wouldn’t recommend visiting the Moulin Rouge at night, unless you are planning to take part in the nighttime entertainment (no judgements here). But, if you are visiting Paris as a family or even alone, I would say go mid-afternoon to admire one of the last remaining windmills in Paris and the area around. I went in the Late Afternoon and walking through the park towards the Moulin Rouge, I did feel that I was getting a few looks from certain people in the park, so I would definitely recommend going a bit earlier or with other people, if you are just visiting the area.

Thursday Evening

From the Moulin Rouge, there is a bus that takes you right across town to Trocadero for only 1.90 euros (metro ticket). A positive about Paris is that the transport is very advanced and easy to navigate. Enjoy an evening tour of the city as the bus heads through the winding streets back to the centre of Paris. Finish the evening enjoying the lights on Trocadero Square. Make sure to snap some photos.

Friday Morning

WELL DONE!! You’ve made it to your last morning in Paris after countless steps walked through the old cobblestone streets, be proud to say, you have survived 72 hours in Paris. I spent the last morning to visit more of the Latin Quartier, this included a trip to the local natural history museum and the zoo. Then headed back to Gard du Nord on the Eurostar. HOME AT LAST…

THE SCHOOL SURVIVAL GUIDE: Why College was the worst 2 years of my life.

Hiya guys and welcome back to another blog post and another post in the school survival guide series.

As you can tell by the title, I am extremely dramatic.

You can also tell by the title that I hated college. In fact, hated is an understatement, I loathed college. I still loathe college. But before I get into the why of my hatred, let me just explain what college is in the UK.

I think I’ve explained this before so this will be brief. Basically, students in college or 6th form are between the ages of 16-18 usually. It is before university and is now compulsory in the UK (however not compulsory to do A Levels).

I think A-Levels are possibly the hardest thing I have ever done. They caused me nothing but stress and heartache for 2 years. FOR 2 FLIPPING YEARS.

But, let’s start at the beginning…

Pre-college me was a happy sweet child, I’d just finished GCSE’s, did quite well, was feeling quite confident and was like A-Levels bring it on, bite me (that was so cringy and I seriously apologise).

September comes, after a nice long summer, I was relaxed and then started college.

This is where I made my first mistake.

I decided that I wanted to make new friends and be cool and all that jazz… MISTAKE #1.

I spent so much time trying to get to know people and just talk to people and put myself out there, that I forgot what was important. AKA, A-LEVELS.

This is a tip for you guys who are starting college or anything else that is a short critical time period, prioritise your work, please. Don’t use free periods for just chatting in the canteen (guilty), don’t leave your work till the night before (guilty), and just be yourself (also… guilty – I’m a naturally chatty person).

Anyways, the first year of college passes by… I did ok. It’s probably because I sweated at the last moment that I got the grades, I did.

Second-year comes around.

The work just increases 100x.

I’m not even lying to you. I was working all day every day on college work for 11 months straight. No joke. Bearing in mind, I had to go over everything from the first year because I didn’t understand the majority of it. It was a stressful year. Holidays – I don’t think so. Breaks – what are they. I don’t know how I got through the year without breaking down to be perfectly honest with you.

This is when mistake two happened, my revision was not as effective for the first three months of “revising”, which meant that I wasted a lot of time and effort “learning” things that did not stay in my brain at all… MISTAKE 2#.

On the upside, the year went quickly. Kind of. I remember telling myself, oh don’t worry you have 9 months till your exams. 6 days later. First exams tomorrow (It literally felt like that…)

Now I’m in the long wait period. I’m waiting for results day. I’m literally just praying to God that my work this year paid off.

However, so far this post has been pretty negative. So here’s a bit of positive advice:

  1. do make friends – don’t misunderstand me, it is not a problem to talk to new people and make new friends, just make sure you have your priorities straight. don’t do what I did and just spend all your time trying to make new friends and no time studying. it’s all about balance.
  2. take breaks – cannot stress enough, when studying you need to have some downtime and enjoy yourself. put your own physical and mental health first.
  3. work hard, play hard – put your education first, but when it’s time to relax… relax hard people.

Overall, I guess my college experience wasn’t as awful as I made it sound (it was pretty awful though), but I definitely wouldn’t do it again. That is for sure.

Comment below any college experiences, or school experiences that you have absolutely hated!

And have a good week!

Peace out,

Love Anita x

p.s. goodluck to all those getting results this summer!!

Fortune Favours the Bold

There are moments in my life when I wonder: why am I even doing this. (By this, I mean life, in general, not blogging.)

This was one of those weeks, I woke up on Monday morning to the beast from the east striking again, we were hit with snow. Remember, I am in my second year of college, exams are about 2 months away and I haven’t even finished learning the content, so it wasn’t as welcoming as some would think. However, I took it with confidence and tried to get work done at home. But, I woke up in a slump. In my dictionary, a slump is like an uncontrollable lack of motivation that no matter what you do, you can’t get rid off. This mood seemed to last with me the whole week. Comment below if you’ve ever been in a slump. Thoughts drifted through my mind, ‘you should quit’, ‘you won’t pass’; ‘why don’t you drop out now’. Then, I reminded myself, why I am here, where I am going and what I want to achieve.

When you are in these moods, you have to remind yourself that you have been made for greatness. That most of the bad thoughts that swirl in your mind are creations that mean nothing. That the labels we have been given – gender, grades, numbers – mean nothing if we don’t want them. I read a quote that resonated with me; “Fortune does favour the bold and you’ll never know what you’re capable of if you don’t try.”

I believe we are all capable. Capable of anything. Tomorrow is Monday. Again. I am determined to wake up on the right side of the bed and tackle it like a boss.

Peace out, Accidental Aspirationalists

the state of the world

“I am a strong believer in the fact that there is someone out there for all of us and we just haven’t found them yet.”

Good morning, Good evening, Good afternoon. It’s February. The second month of the year and it’s already ending. Yesterday was Valentine’s Day or as I like to call it Galentine’s Day. I’m not going to lie to you, I’ve never “celebrated” valentine’s day if celebrating is the right word. But, I’m not some religious hater of the day because I’m single every year. In fact, I quite enjoy it. I think the way that people show love to those they really care about, whether it be partners, spouses or even just friends is beautiful. It is really beautiful.

The day before Valentine’s, I was at work. One of my colleagues was telling me that this is the first valentine’s day she would be spending alone in six years. I felt for her. I felt for her because I think when you are in a relationship for so long and have celebrated your love on that day for six years and then all of a sudden it’s gone. It will definitely be hard. However, the social construct that love has to be shown to a partner on one day in the year is so wrong. I don’t think people who are single have to feel like they are alone. I am a strong believer in the fact that there is someone out there for all of us and we just haven’t found them yet. Yep, I am a hopeless romantic.

So, yesterday, I spent the day with one of my best friends. Who I would do anything for, and no it wasn’t an “I hate couples” day, or “we’re strong independent women and don’t believe in valentine’s day”. It was more of an “I’m spending the day with someone I love”. I hope that you all managed to spend time with those you love, even if it was just you. Love yourself.

On another sad note, the world is a forsaken mess.

The Florida school shootings hit real with me. It is heartbreaking to think that families are in agony and pain on one of the most romantic, loving days of the year. To think that there are people out there who could do that to people, who could freely split families apart makes me angry, sad and so frustrated. It made me realise, that we, as humans, do not do enough to protect our own. When, I was taught at school that we are the only species who freely kill our own, not for food. I realised that we need a change.

One – America needs gun laws. And it needs them now. How many shootings and killings will it take for people to understand that it is not right to allow people to just own weapons? Frankly, I don’t care what some constitution says. People are dying.

Two – Stay safe. The world is not a safe place and I don’t think it ever has or will be. Stay safe outside, stay safe online and protect your families, children, and friends.

Three – Love everyone. I believe that whether they be your enemy or your friend, we should still show love. I don’t mean love like you would to a partner or a family member even. You don’t even have to like them. But just enough ‘like’ that if you see someone in danger, you feel a duty to try and help them.

I strongly believe that the human race is not lost. I believe that there are good people out there. I think that we all just need to try that little bit harder to protect what we have been given and to protect those we love.

I hope you all have a great day, rest of the day or night.

Peace out,

Accidental Aspirationalist x

12 ways to GLOW up in 2018

Welcome back to another blog post!

On the theme of confidence to kick off the new year here are some tips to be the best version of you this year and “Glow Up”.

(please note: none of the tips in here is directed at anyone in anyway shape or form. They are just tips that I would suggest if you want to be your best self)

Tip #1: Skincare

Ok, this is probably my number one tip. Having a good skincare routine is so important, for girls and guys. Skin is the first thing that someone will see and notice. Having good skin not alone makes you feel confident but is actually a sign of healthiness. I will probably do a skincare routine sometime in the future, but if you’re looking for a cheap skincare brand, I would recommend Simple. Their products are light on the skin but also do an amazing job!

2018-01-14 05.19.11 1.jpg
Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

Tip #2: Hygiene

Gosh! Do I even need to speak about this! Just please have a shower every day (or at least most days), brush your teeth twice a day, the usual stuff… When you smell good, boy do you look good.

Tip #3: Posture

This is probably something I need to improve on myself. A good posture. However, my mum also says to me, imagine you have a string coming from your head and a someone is pulling on it. That’s how good your posture should be. No one wants to become a hunchback… just saying! Also, practice walking with your head up. It’s really easy to look at the ground when you walk but that can be really bad for your posture. I would say if you look up, it also puts out a very confident aura.

Tip #4: Exercise

Sigh. This is so overlooked, but so necessary. I don’t want to offend anyone, but the best way to glow up is to make sure you’re getting in that half an hour to an hour a day of exercise. Please do not use the excuse of having no time because if you have time to watch that episode of Friends on Netflix, you have time to do a home workout (I’m so brutal!!). I felt with my exercise, since finishing school and going to college, I definitely lacked a routine. At the end of last year, I decided to join the gym just because it is easy to go most days after college and then I also have a Pinterest board (if you wanna follow me on Pinterest check out my social links) called “the workout life” where I pin exercise routines that I can follow at the gym. So, if you’re just lacking some motivation and structure, definitely invest in a gym membership.

Screenshot 2018-01-14 at 17.36.42

Tip #5: Good Habits

By this, I mean get rid of the bad habits. For instance, biting nails (a classic), chewing hair, eating a whole pack of biscuits to yourself just because you can (*cough* I mean me *cough*). It takes 21 days to break a habit, which compared to making one isn’t actually that long. So, this year slam the bad habits away and make some new good habits like eating better, going for a run, or just getting enough sleep.

Tip #6: Mindfulness

Recently, I have started doing this. Mindfulness is a form of meditation which just relaxes the mind and allows you to focus on a specific task or activity. I find that this is a really good way to wake up in the morning and it just puts me in a better mood for the day. I would say invest in a good meditation app such as Headspace (not sponsored). However, I am aware that this does not work for everyone, but there is no harm in trying :).

Tip #7: Speech and Language

This is a big one for me. If you are looking for a way to seem more sophisticated, more grown up and more ‘glown’ up, cut out the swearing, cussing or whatever you call it. There is nothing that ticks me off more is meeting someone whose every second word is a swear word. Don’t get me wrong, if you swear, good for you. But if you wanna glow up, I promise you, you will receive more respect from people if you know how to hold a conversation without swearing.

Tip #8: Education

Stay in school kids. As much as college, school, university and remotely anything to do with getting an education and developing yourself sucks, it is really really important. I am hoping that it will push you forward in life. I believe that you need to gain as much education as you can, so if the time comes when your job or family is at risk, you have something to fall back on.

Tip #9: Stay Hydrated

Carry water with you everywhere. Water is like an angel sent to cure us of anything. Have dried, peeling lips – drink water. Have a headache – drink water. Feeling hungry – guess what drink water! Drink your H2O girls and boys.

pexels-photo-113734.jpeg

Tip #10: Relationships

This is pretty important! This year have good relationships with family and friends. If there is one way to glow up, it’s with your friends. You can hit the gym together. You can set goals together. Form relationships which will last for a long time.

Tip #11: Sleep Patterns

If you’re not getting 8 hours a night are you even sleeping? That’s my motto. Tbh, I understand with school and college work, it can be hard to get a decent number of hours sleep. But, believe me, sleep is the best gift you can give your body. As well as this, it reduces the risk of Gucci bags under eyes. So switch off that phone and put down your book and start prioritising those beauty hours of blessed sleep.

Tip #12: Healthy Eating

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. I think that’s all I need to say. (wow that rhymed… freaky)

pexels-photo-257840.jpeg

That’s it for now. There are so many more ways that can help you achieve your goals and “glow” up this 2018. Comment below any more ideas that you have!

2018: The Year of (the) True Confidence

Hiya guys,

Ah, a year is over and another one is beginning. I love the new year, not just because it is a chance to turn over a new 365th page but because it’s another chance to be better. Don’t get me wrong. We can be better every day, at any time of the year but I always seem to associate the New Year with a BIG change within myself that may not take as much physical effort as the small things (i.e eating healthier) but little by little I can achieve in 365 days.

Last year, I told my self I wanted a friendship detox. It sounds really bad when I say it out loud to myself but by this I mean, I wanted to be around people who made me truly happy. It’s safe to say, it started off rough… really rough, which is why I’m so glad I had 365 days to do it. But by the end of 2017, I felt I had grown stronger at defending myself and knowing the people I wanted to be around, or who influenced me.

The 31st of December approached, about a week ago, and I was thinking what quality I could work on for 2018. As a person, I would say I am perceived to be pretty confident. I stand up for what I believe in (most of the time), my morals are higher than my heels and I tend to say how I feel at all times (not the best quality to have… trust me). Despite this, on the inside, I sometimes feel weak. I sometimes feel as if I can be crushed very easily. I am not always confident about the way I look, talk etc. I feel that I put on a tough exterior but my interior is as strong as glass. Very easily smashed. That is why this year, I have decided to work on confidence. True confidence, inside and out. Whether that be, by hitting the gym so I feel better in my own body or learning more about myself. But, I guarantee by the end of 2018, I want to feel better and truly more confident.

I was born in the year of the dragon (which is totally awesome just saying…) and this year, for me, it is the year of the true confidence. Comment below what your goals for this year are, what are some things you want to achieve and one last thing just go out and crush it!

expressing-confidence

LIEBSTER AWARD!

WOW. I’m actually in shock! So I’ve been nominated for the Liebster Award by the lovely Laura, her blog is livingmylifelikeme; definitely, go and check her out! I didn’t see the comment for a while so this is a little late but enjoy!

THE RULES:

  1. Mention and acknowledge the blog that nominated you, and displays the award logo.
  2. Answer the 11 questions that the blogger who nominated you gave you.
  3. Tell 11 facts about yourself.
  4. Nominate between 5-12 blogs.
  5. Also, make sure to notify these bloggers of their nomination.
  6. Finally, give them 11 questions to answer.

LAURA’S QUESTIONS:

  • What is your favourite childhood memory?
    • My favourite childhood memory is probably when I would spend the summer holidays in England, with my older brother and all we would do is play different board games and watch movies. Literally, all summer. I think these are some of my best memories because he’s away at university at the moment so I don’t get to see him as often. Also, we were best friends then.

Board game

  • If you could go anywhere in the world for a week, where would you go?
    • This is an easy one, hands down, Thailand! Seems a bit basic, but if you look into it then you’ll understand. The culture, the people, urgh I would live there for the rest of my life if I could. Thailand is stunning and I definitely going to make a plan to spend a month there, at least.

  • When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried?
    • I have examples, but here’s one that sticks out to me. We were watching Cars (the movie) and I don’t know if any of you have seen it, but there is a part where they go tractor tipping and the tractors act like cows, start tipping and fall over. It doesn’t sound hilarious but at the time it was so funny and my sister was laughing so hard she started to wet herself (yeah grim…) and that just set me off! I laughed so hard, I cried… If you haven’t watched it, here’s a link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xm77JG6d99Mhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xm77JG6d99M
  • What is your favourite period in history?
    • I’m not much of a historian but probably the time of Shakespeare, so the 1500s. Just because, I’ve read some of his works and possibly because Romeo and Juliet the movie has Leonardo DiCaprio and he’s my one true love so… I’m not mad.

  • If you could time travel, would you go back to the past, or forward to the future?
    • Definitely the future. I’m a big believer in living the past in the past. In real life, you cannot undo anything which is why we should always look forward. No matter what is going wrong at the moment, I strongly believe the future will always be better. PLUS, the future is going to be pretty cool, I mean although the world may end and we may run out of fuel, I think we’re going to figure out so many cool, new inventions and if I travelled to the future, I’d get a sneak preview 😉

  • What is your favourite thing about blogging?
    • Being able to express feelings and passions in a good way. I think so many people think that writing online is a bad thing and so often people do use the internet and social media to promote bad things. I dislike that. I think blogging is a way that I am able to spread a positive influence but also to give people an insight into my life because obviously, I’m sooooo interesting (please note: my second language is sarcasm). Blogging is a way to meet people and also to learn about different cultures and different environments, it’s just interesting.

  • Who was the last person you said ‘I love you’ to?

  • What was the weirdest dream you’ve ever had?
    • This wasn’t really a weird dream but more of a weird coincidence. So, I play the flute and when I was in Year 8 (13-14), I was doing my grade 3 on the flute. I literally love playing the flute, so I was stressing about it for days. One night, I had a dream about my exam and it went so well, and I got my exam results and got a distinction!! (This is the highest of the highest). Anyway, the next day, I had my flute exam and I told my mum about the dream and literally, I’m not kidding you my exam went exactly as my dream… yep! you guessed it, I got my exam results in the post and I got a distinction!! That was one of the weirdest experiences ever, but I was so so happy!

  • How do you keep occupied on rainy days?
    • Like a normal person, I watch Netflix… is there anything else to do? I’m a netflixaholic, literally, you name it, I’ve watched it. 🙂

  • If you could be anything or anyone for one day, who or what would you be?
    • I’m gonna do two things: first, if I was anything, I would be a bird. Not just any bird, one that flies away on holiday in the winter. Because of free travel, why else?…and also I think it would be so cool to be able to see everything from above and I think they have a long lifespan… correct me if I’m wrong. And second, if I was anyone else, I would be the President of the United States, not Donald Trump, just another President because I just feel a need to help fix that country. No offence Americans, you just need gun laws. Urgently.

  • In a world without internet or phones, what would you invent to communicate?
    • Telepathy. Come on, what else? I would invent like a device or a chip which you could put on your body (preferably not inside your body) and this would connect to your central nervous system and send information to your brain so that you can receive and send messages instantly. On the other hand, we could just use our mouths, those are wonderful things as well…

Week Five – 1 // Autumn Ramblings

2017-10-25 04.53.40 1.jpg

Autumn leaves are my favourite things. The colours that surround me as I walk places. Autumn seems to illuminate the beauty in the simplest things. Browns, Oranges, Reds… I absolutely love it.

But with the season of Autumn brings the season of the reflection. It’s almost the end of the year and I think what have I done and how my life has changed. What can I do in these last few months to make a difference to this year? As they would say end it with a bang.

So recently, I have joined the gym. Yeah, I never thought I would allow myself to spend £16.99 a month on exercise. It’s shocking really. As well as this, I have started my new job which I love! I get paid (quite a lot for my age I might add) for scanning pieces of paper into a computer… I can’t really complain much. Although, it is going all good and well, in the back of my mind I thoughts that sometimes creep up like; you’re going to uni soon, you need to pass your exams, you need to make it through these last few months at college, and you’re an adult in 3 months time. That big 18, is coming my way.

How do adults do it?

The closer I get to actually being responsible for everything I do. The closer I get to actually being in the real world, the more I want to stay home. To live in the safety bubble of my parents. But, realistically, that can’t be forever. A word to those young/pre-teens. Cherish your time as a child because the more you wish to be older than you are the quicker it will come.

On the upside, a lot of things have been going right in my life right now. I’ve made some decent friends at college, I can drink hot chocolate again because the season is here. Oh, and furry coats are in! As well as this, right now it is the half term at schools and colleges in the UK so I have been relaxing… ok that’s a lie, I have been revising and doing uni applications.

Ah and another thing, I got Netflix back! Yeah, I know what you’re thinking, why did you ever get rid of it?!?! Well, it is pretty distracting, I’m not going to lie. I have been limiting myself to one episode a day of watching reruns of Gossip Girl (the greatest TV show on earth). Any new TV show suggests though? I might do a blog post on TV shows… I watch way too many!

To bring these literally autumn ramblings to a close, last update I’m no longer scared of dogs! More to come on that…;)

Peace out,

Accidental Aspirationalists xx
